Ìlorin Ni

Ìlorin Ni
The age long emirate dynasty
Founded on a land sparse and arid
By Ojo, a renowned blacksmith
With few houses and lovely people

Ìlorin Ni
Emirate is our kinsghip title
Al Qur'an is our foremost treasury
Studying and committing it to memory
And Tirahs with different life meanings

Ìlorin Ni
A place not too close to the desert
But the sun scotch and hit us hard
A place not too close to the water beds
But when it rains, it brings blessings forth

Ìlorin Ni
Our ancient houses are made of mud
From little water mixed with mother earth
As defence against intruders' gun shots
During inter racial conflicts and several wars

Ìlorin Ni
Where everyone lives as one family
We are not just nice, but very lovely
With strangers finding us very accommodating
Our women are nice and our foods are treaty

Ìlorin Ni
Our last kobo can be spent on party
Every weekend, someone must get married
This, we value and keep its sweet memory
As one of the few treasures which we cherish

Ìlorin Ni
A land full of diverse knowledge
Home of renowned sheiks and several professors
With children well versed in arabia
And adults who are graduates and hard workers

- Acetyl (February, 2020)

APONBEPORE...an encounter

Episode One - By Acetyl APONBEPORE is a yoruba pynegyry which literally means a lady whose complexion looks like the colour of palm oil; mostly used for a beauty. Left to me and some other active guys, our sense of visions are used in stylishly assessing the beauty of anything that passes satisfying our limbic system of emotions. It was on a very busy Monday morning when the school just began a new academic session. As freshers, we were seated calmly at the 200- seater geology lecture theatre (GLT) awaiting the arrival of Mrs Okorie - an old, persuasive, English lecturer in her late 50s who always used half of the time to call attendance and the other half to make us read from the GNS textbook. After few minutes before the arrival of the lecturer, a young lady in her 20s walked in through the main door which was just at my 10 o' clock. What a beauty to be amazed, it left me looking skeptical wondering if such being had ever been created. She represented a perfect icon ...

NOTHING SPOIL...

They beef while I smile When I laugh, they bleed At the end of it Nothing spoil My presence, an headache  My movement, a migraine  When I joke,  they cry  Nothing spoil In a corner, they meet To gist and backbite About why I progress  But nothing spoil  When you hate, I know Even if it doesn't show Pls don't stop hating  Cos I get motivated  I may not be handsome But I'm cool I may not be gentle  But I'm caring I may not be stuffy  But very well loaded I mean very well Cos nothing spoil I'm not bothered but bored That's why I put down some words In case it may serve as record                            After all nothing spoil

OVERCOMING the FRIGHT

OVERCOMING the FRIGHT INTRODUCTION What doesn't kill you, they say makes you stronger. Exams don't test one's knowledge as well as they test one's state of mind which makes us grow more tensed whenever we are to be tested. How I wish there are lectures without exams - sayings of an average student like myself. We just scaled through the dreadful red-sea with our hearts in our hands...somehow.``` From my own self, I dedicate this story to those good friends who one way or the other couldn't cross the sea with us. I believe it's for the best...stay blessed. OVERCOMING the FRIGHT EPISODE one - By Acetyl We have been through lots of spanking and dazing from strange and bothering questions in print; but this time it was different. To make it more confusing, the last lecture was the most boring one as strange topics began to erupt from the oral cavity of Pro Adesokan (HOD Biochemistry) - an old, agile, man in his late 50...
