OVERCOMING the FRIGHT
INTRODUCTION
What doesn't kill you, they say makes you stronger. Exams don't test one's knowledge as well as they test one's state of mind which makes us grow more tensed whenever we are to be tested. How I wish there are lectures without exams - sayings of an average student like myself. We just scaled through the dreadful red-sea with our hearts in our hands...somehow.```
From my own self, I dedicate this story to those good friends who one way or the other couldn't cross the sea with us. I believe it's for the best...stay blessed.
OVERCOMING the FRIGHT
EPISODE one - By Acetyl
We have been through lots of spanking and dazing from strange and bothering questions in print; but this time it was different.
To make it more confusing, the last lecture was the most boring one as strange topics began to erupt from the oral cavity of Pro Adesokan (HOD Biochemistry) - an old, agile, man in his late 50s with well trimmed grey beard and tribal marks of people of the great Oyo Empire. I began to wonder if "paraport cycle" was ever in my Bch textbook.
It's about our first professional mbbs exam that should qualify us as clinical students. The stress in preparing for the exams that carries half of all exams done in pre-clinicals was not just mouthwash as many of us had pathed ways before the day of the exam.
Some have begged their gods, some called for a family prayer meeting, some went to the mountain, some fasted day and night as we were all scared of exiting medical school without been inducted.
I just said to myself, I will keep reading even if I don't understand. I did this non stop even in the faces of numerous distractions from roommates, and my dear candy crush app. Or how convenient is it to carry about the shame of failing exams after all the Doki slogan received from friends and family even when they know u are not yet qualified.
It was a day to the D-day, as we all grew in fear if it was really going to be real. Many hoped it should be postponed due to numerous loads of un-touched stuffs. Many like a friend, would say...heaven will not fall.
Many left their home of convenience to bushes, prayer houses, classes, and other strange places thinking they will be better in such environment. Many drugged themselves as some took caffeine from coffee to stimulate their CNS making it be at alert. No one wants to sleep off as we kept reading till the book is tired ( not we).
